A Few Words About the People Who Teach for Us
Our instructors bring an incredibly diverse array of working knowledge into their respective classrooms. What sets them apart is their ability to merge the technical knowledge with real-world examples so that the knowledge and concepts taught are clear and understandable.
Dr. Arnott has a Ph.D. in Management from the University of Texas at Arlington. He also holds an M.B.A. from East Texas State University and a B.A. from Greenville College of Illinois. He is the author of Corporate Cults: Escaping the Organizational Trap. He has lectured at Moscow State Technical University, Moscow State Institute of International Relations, and St. Petersburg Polytechnic University. He has delivered numerous speeches to academic and professional associations throughout the U.S. on the subjects of organizational change and leadership.
Ms. Clem is a site examiner for the RISC: Re-inventing Schools Coalition, a project funded by the Bill Gates Foundation. She has developed training programs for organizations around the world and was a Malcom Baldridge National Quality Award Examiner.
Mr. Haerr is an educator and practitioner of finance and accounting. He serves as adjunct professor and seminar discussion leader for various educational institutes. As a practitioner, he serves as financial consultant for emerging businesses. In addition to his work with PDI, he teaches Financial Management, a core MBA course, within the Graduate School of Management at the University of Dallas. At Southern Methodist University, he teaches a finance and accounting for non-financial managers class in the continuing education program. Mr. Haerr is president of AMT Financial Consultants, Inc., a corporate financial consulting firm. He has an MBA from Indiana University and a BS in engineering from the University of Illinois.
Dr. Mann is the KPMG Professor of Accounting at Texas Tech University. He received his Ph.D. and M.A. degrees from the University of Alabama and his B.B.A. from the University of Arkansas at Monticello. He has received five university-wide teaching awards, including the President's Excellence in Teaching Award. He is the author or co-author of numerous industry programs and publications. He has served on the AICPA's Task Force on Accounting for Interest Income, the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy's Technical Standards Review Committee, the Texas Society of CPAs' Accounting, Auditing and Reporting Standards Committee and its editorial board for Today's CPA.
Dr. McDonald has more than 20 years experience in corporate finance fields. He is currently the Executive Associate Dean for the College of Business. He has been a PDI instructor since 1985. He is a member of the American, Western and Southern, and Southwestern Finance Associations, Delta Sigma Pi, the Financial Executives Institute and the Financial Management Association. He has served as an expert witness for the City of Dallas, and has consulted for firms including EDS. The American Institute of CPAs has named him outstanding instructor three times.
Clients and class participants describe Ted McIlvain as an "energetic, motivational speaker with a genuine interest in every member of his audience." In addition to his work with PDI, he manages an organizational development company through McIlvain and Associates Certified Public Accountants. He is an adjunct faculty member in the Communication Studies Department at Texas Christian University. He teaches organizational development, business and professional speaking and basic communications. He has a B.A. in speech communication from the University of Central Florida and a Master of Science in Communication in Human Relations from Texas Christian University.
Mr. Moss is a CPA with a demonstrated success in the management of corporate and not-for-profit organizations. His background includes strategic planning, product development, marketing, alliance development, external relations, operations management, fiscal control and reporting, information technology, and human resources. He has served as an instructor for Richland College, Deloitte Haskins & Sells, the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the Dallas Chapter, Texas Society of CPAs.
Dr. Powell is a professor with the University of North Texas College of Business and a former counseling and placement specialist for the U.S. Air Force. He also worked for Electronic Data Systems in Dallas, where he focused on customer data requirements and performed extensive customer relations activities. He has conducted seminars for the Digital Equipment Corporation, the Mechanical Contractor's Association of America, Otis Engineering, Levi Strauss, and American Eurocopter.
Jay Roy, CMA, MBA, is president of Strategic Compliance Group, Inc., which is a dedicated compliance company specializing in SEC and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements. He is a financial professional well versed in SEC regulations, financial audits and SOX initiatives.
Ms. Sims is professor and director of technical writing at the University of North Texas. She also conducts writing training and consults with companies across the U.S. Recently, she has worked with the following companies: Ericsson, Centex Construction (in Texas and Florida), SBC, GTE, Nokia, Sanden International, Inc., and the DFW Airport. She is author of numerous books and articles, including Technical Writing for Readers and Writers.
Mr. Tucker received his J.D. from New York University and his LL.M. from Georgetown University Law Center. He is a CPA and received his Ph.D. from the University of Houston. The author of more than 100 books and journal articles, Mr. Tucker is a veteran TV and live seminar presenter and has appeared before hundreds of groups in the United States and Europe. He is currently the co-host of CPA Report, a monthly video service that updates accounting practitioners on the latest developments. He is also a professor at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut, and a consultant to the T.M. Byxbee Company in Hamden.
